Bonus rules are boring. Long pages. Small text. And a nice promo that turns sour later. I stopped reading T&Cs line by line years ago. Now I scan them in minutes and still catch the rules that hurt. Read on to borrow the exact system I use.
If I want a quick place to test my scan, I use Nine Casino Slovenija. It has missions, VIP levels, a points shop, a Wheel of Fortune, and tournaments. Add fast payouts, cashback offers, and 24/7 chat/email help. It’s a good sandbox for spotting caps and rules fast today, too.
My 2-Minute T&Cs Scan (The Only Order That Works)
I never start at the top. That’s how you lose focus. Here’s my order every single time:
- Open the full bonus terms, not the banner pop-up.
- Use the search on the page (Ctrl+F). I don’t scroll yet.
- Find the hard limits first: caps, max bets, and time.
- Screenshot key lines. If a rule changes later, I have proof.
Once I do this, I already know if the offer is worth five more minutes or zero.
Secret #1 — Don’t Read It. Hunt These Words
I don’t “read” bonus rules. I hunt keywords. These are the ones that matter most:
- Wagering / playthrough – how many times you must roll it
- Contribution – which games count, and how much
- Max bet – the rule people break without noticing
- Max cashout / cap – the real ceiling on your win
- Eligible / excluded games – what you can actually play
- Sticky / non-withdrawable – bonus funds you can’t pull out
- Time limit / expiry – the hidden clock
- Verification / KYC – when documents can block cashout
- Void / irregular play – the “we decide” clause
If a page hides these words well, that’s already a bad sign.
Secret #2 — Wagering Alone Lies to You
A bonus with x30 wagering can be fine. Or awful. The difference is in the contribution. The breakdown I see all the time:
- Slots: 100%
- Live casino: 10%
- Table games: 0%
If you love live games and they count at 10%, that x30 bonus feels more like x300. When I’m unsure how a title counts, I pull up a couple of the latest free slots and do a quick “Info / Rules” check in demo first. It’s faster than guessing and then learning the hard way at cashout time.
Quick rule I use: If my main games don’t count fully, the bonus slows to a crawl. I move on.
Secret #3 — The Max Bet Rule Is the Silent Killer
Rules like: “Maximum bet while bonus is active: €5” sound easy. Until the limit applies per spin (not per round), autoplay ignores it, or a feature buy breaks it instantly.
I always look for max bet right after wagering. If I don’t see it clearly written, I assume it exists somewhere nasty.
When I play with a bonus, I lock one stake and never touch it.
Secret #4 — The Real Boss Fight: Cashout Caps
This is where promos get exposed. Here’s a way I judge caps:
| Cap type | What it does | When it’s OK |
| Fixed max cashout | Limits your final win | Small free spins |
| Max win per round | Cancels big hits | Almost never |
| Cap after wagering | Stops upside | Only for tiny bonuses |
If I see a hard cap that feels low compared to effort, I don’t argue with it. I skip it.
Secret #5 — Time Limits Turn Fun Into Stress
Time rules can be set at 24 hours, 72 hours, or 7 days. The trick is what the clock applies to. Sometimes it’s “Bonus funds expire”. Other times, it’s “Wagering must be completed”. That’s a big difference.
My rule is simple: If the clock feels like homework, I’m out.
Secret #6 — Sticky Funds and Withdrawal Order
Sticky bonuses mean that you wager, you win, and you withdraw only profit (not the bonus itself). That’s fine if you know it upfront.
I also check the withdrawal order:
- Deposit first
- Bonus first
- Mixed
This changes how much risk sits in your balance. If the terms don’t explain it clearly, that’s friction I don’t want.
Secret #7 — “Irregular Play” Is a Red Flag Clause
This line scares me more than high wagering. It usually says something vague like: “Any play patterns deemed irregular may result in cancellation.” I treat it like this:

| Do | Don’t |
|
|
If the clause feels too open-ended, I assume the house has an escape hatch.
Secret #8 — My 30-Second Decision Rule
Finally, I rate every bonus on five things:
- Wagering
- Contribution
- Max bet
- Cashout cap
- Time limit
Each gets 0 to 2 points. Interpretation:
- 8–10: solid, worth a shot
- 5–7: maybe, depends on mood
- Below 5: hard pass
Final Word: Read Less. Catch More.
I don’t out-read bonus rules. I out-scan them. Do the same. Find the limits, spot the traps, screenshot the proof, and move fast.
That’s how bonuses stop wasting your time and start behaving.
